why i started selling these.
I've been a handyman in Central Massachusetts, and if there's one problem I never fully solved, it's this: how do you carry everything you need for the job in the back of a pickup truck without your tools getting soaked, stolen, or bounced around on the highway.
For a while I looked at buying a cargo van. Vans have their advantages — more enclosed storage, weatherproof, lockable. But they also run $40,000–$60,000, they don't tow or handle yard and job-site work the way a truck does, and my truck was already paid for. Trading it in for a van payment didn't make sense for me — and it didn't make sense for a lot of the guys I run into either, plumbers, electricians, other handymen, even weekend guys hauling gear to camp or the dump.

Straight talk on the payment split. My manufacturer requires half up front when I place the order and half when it ships — I run it the same way with you. Half up front locks in your order and gets it built specifically for your truck; the other half isn't due until I've installed it and you're back to work. If you back out after I've placed the order, I'm the one stuck holding a cap nobody else wants — the deposit protects me from that. It's not an extra fee, it's the first half of your total.
Be honest with yourself about the timeline. If you need a cap next week, this isn't the right option — go see a local shop. If you're fine waiting 2–3 months to save about $1,700 — roughly a third off what a local shop charges — this is exactly what it's for.
